Weekly Events with James Wade-Hinckley
Every Monday - James and Peer Solutions “Stand and Serve” program support the student body at William T. Machan School 2140 E. Virginia Phoenix, AZ 85006 from 4:00pm until 5:00pm.
Every Wednesday - James and Peer Solutions “Stand and Serve” program partner with the Kids at Hope Four ACE’s program from Pendergast Elementary School. The program brings 5th -8th graders together for a weekly discussion. The discussions are held for a half hour during lunch time in an open format in which the young people are encouraged to talk about challenges they faced that week and receive suggestions and tools from peers and facilitator that will help them handle the situation differently in the future. The “Stand and Serve” curriculum was created by Jennifer Rauhouse of Peer Solutions (http://peersolutions.org/intro.html) and a long time teacher of James. At Pendergast Elementary School the Four ACE’s are broken down as follows: the Ace of Hearts is an anchor or parent, the Ace of spades is high expectations, the Ace of Diamonds is the opportunities for success and the Ace of Clubs are other caring adults. “The purpose of the club is to impact the school atmosphere while developing social skills and encouraging the academic success of young females. It is important that young girls have knowledge of things that bring them true empowerment: education, a sense of purpose, confidence, compassion and humility.” There are essential adult relationships that are needed for children to succeed and the Wade Family Foundation is honored to be an official Ace of clubs, other caring adults, for the students of Pendergast.(www.pesd92.org/schools/pend/index.html)
